City of Antwerp makes new urban planning charges ordinance

The City of Antwerp is working on a new regulation on urban development charges. This changes the current regulation on urban development charges for large construction projects requiring a permit. From now on, the known urban development cost (the so-called SOK) will become an 'urban development charge' in a completely new guise. The existing rules will be extended and an urban green fund will be created. Especially for (large) real estate projects, this will have to be taken into account. The new regulation is scheduled to come into force in July 2024. The urban green fund scheme will take effect from 1 January 2025. From 9 February 2024 to 10 March 2024, the new ordinance is up for public scrutiny. Those wishing to submit comments or objections can always contact Schoups for assistance.
