On 21 April 2016, the Belgian Association for the Study of Construction Law and CEPANI40 are jointly organised an afternoon seminar entitled "A Critical Look at Dispute Resolution in Work Contracting".
The seminar was designed to offer solutions to companies that today are confronted with a dispute resolution system that has many shortcomings, including its expense and the length of time it consumes.
Marco Schoups was co-day chairman and introduced the afternoon by offering a number of reflections on what has gone wrong with the present system.
Geert De Buyzer, head of our Arbitration, Mediation and ADR practice group, gave, together with co-day chairman Professor Benoît Kohl, an overview of the existing alternatives for the district courts and courts of appeal.
Other speakers included Atty V. Vanhoutte (Vice Chairman of the ICC, International Court of Arbitration), Atty D. Demeulemeester (President of CEPANI) and Atty H. Verbist.
