The minimum wage for employees (in the private sector) is in most cases determined by sectoral collective labour agreement. All employers from a given sector are obliged to comply with these minimum wages. Moreover, foreign employers who have employees in Belgium are also bound to pay these minimum wages (Act of 5 March 2002). In particular for such foreign companies it was often not evident to verify which minimum wages applied in a given sector, especially when they did not have a social secretariat in Belgium. We are therefore pleased to report that all of these sectoral minimum wages have now been brought together on a single website, so that every (Belgian or foreign) employer and every employee can freely consult them.
