Hot off the press: publication of new contract law in the Belgian Official Gazette

The law containing Book 5 "Obligations" of the Civil Code was approved in the Chamber on April 21, 2022, and ratified by the King on April 28, 2022. The law enters into force on the first day of the sixth month following its publication in the Belgian Official Gazette.

Meanwhile, the publication is also a fact: on July 1, 2022, the Act appeared in the Belgian Official Gazette. This means that the new rules of contract law will enter into force on January 1, 2023, and will apply to all legal acts and legal facts that occur as of that date.
