Better be safe than sorry: now also for accounting professionals

In a judgment of the Ghent Business Court, Dendermonde division, of 18 October 2021, the founders of a bankrupt company managed to have their accountant, who had assisted in drawing up their financial plan, indemnify them for half the amount of their founder’s liability. The court held that the accountant had failed in his duty to provide advice towards the founders. What does that mean for accounting professionals? We list the principles.
